What is TIME Sites?

TIME Sites is a cloud-based web publishing platform designed to allow marketing, content, and design teams to build and deploy websites that are scalable and secure.

What are the IT requirements for implementing TIME Sites?

For most implementations there are no additional requirements for IT departments  TIME Sites is very similar to other modern cloud providers such as Zenefits, Salesforce, and Zendesk.

What about hosting?

Our application platform and customers websites are hosted on Amazon Web Services.

TIME Sites' hosting is extremely fast, with page load times up to 10x faster than many competing hosting services.

Unlike traditional CMS services we run a "server-less" architecture, without the overhead of a heavy web framework or a WordPress runtime like PHP.

Instead of each web request needing to be processed through an entire backend stack, your generated pages are served directly from the edge on our globally-distributed, fault-tolerant CDN. Virtually all requests are served out of cache. Additionally, our sites are automatically rendered via AMP (https://www.ampproject.org/), for even faster performance on mobile devices.

How secure is the platform?

We offer automatic SSL for all custom domains. We encrypt sensitive data, like passwords, using industry-best practices.

What systems do you need access to?

We likely don’t need any special access to your existing services.  We integrate with a number of other cloud providers using snippets or OAuth, but we don’t need any other access and would never collect any credentials for other software.

What if I need TIME Sites to integrate with one of our existing systems (DAM, SSO, etc?)

While TIME Sites can connect to many standard marketing platforms out of the box, we are always willing to discuss additional integrations.

Can we perform a penetration test or security scan?

Yes.  We welcome any tests needed to ensure your comfort on the platform.  We only ask that you arrange to do so ahead of time so that we are aware that a test is being performed.

What data does TIME Sites collect?

We only collect data relevant to the sites that our customers create.  We don’t collect any personally identifiable information that would create any kind of liability in the case of a data breach.

How is customer data segregated?

We are a multi-tenant solution similar to other cloud providers.  All customer data is segregated by a customer id.

How do you ensure scalability?

Our multi-tenant architecture ensures substantial overhead in the case of traffic spikes from any given customer or website.  We extensively employ Amazon Web Services’ monitoring and scaling tools to ensure that we are aware of and can react to any events that put additional strain on our systems.

How do you deal with controlling access by employees in the system?

TIME Sites customers have administrative control over all users that can access your assets.  You can revoke access to users in the case of termination or change in job function.

Is my data ever stored on local workstations?

No customer data leaves our Amazon Web Services security group.  All development is done via access controlled instances within our security groups.

How are security updates performed?

Our systems are regularly patched to ensure that our software is using the most up-to-date versions of the technology that we use.  In the case of a security vulnerability being discovered, we can update our systems across all sites simultaneously.

Which browsers are supported?

The websites created by the platform work on all mobile and desktop browsers going back a few versions.  The administrative software, due to its reliance on secure browsers and modern web technologies, is limited to the most recent desktop versions of the Chrome browser.

How would we migrate a site off of TIME Sites?

Many aspects of the platform such as the media used to build the site and any form submissions are easily portable, but there is not an automated way to transition a site to another platform and maintain all functionality automatically.

How do I use my own domains?

You can use your own domains for your TIME Sites sites by working with our customer success team to point your domain to TIME Sites. This involves creating two DNS records. The first will create your SSL certificate, and the second will connect your domain with the TIME Sites site. Since we use Cloudfront, we strongly recommend you use a modern DNS that can support either secure domain forwarding, Alias or ANAME records, or the ability to place a non-IP address on an A record.
