Choose which content should and should not be editable by Content Editors on templates and websites.

It can be very useful to "lock down" certain parts of a page design, particularly when designing templates.  This limits what someone who is going to update the page or use the template using Content Editor can change.  This helps ensure that your design and brand guidelines are maintained.  It also is helpful to be sure that certain things like copyright information or regulatory text cannot be accidentally removed.

For example, you might want to lock the logo image used at the top of a page so that it can't be changed, while allowing the rest of the images on the page to be editable.

While in the Design Studio, open the page structure panel. 

This panel lists all of the elements and the content that they contain, as well as whether or not they are unlocked.

This container is named “Headshot” and has a background image that is currently unlocked.

This text element is named “Info wrapper” and has a background image, and a text element inside, both of which are locked.

Often times a page should be completely locked down or mostly locked down.  The easiest way to do this is via the locking menu found in the top right of the Page Structure panel.

These actions will override all previously locked or unlocked content.

The page structure panel is hierarchical.  This means that you can easily lock down an entire section by locking the topmost element.

This 3-column Grid contains many elements.  Clicking the lock area next to it will lock all the content that it contains.

Some elements may have multiple pieces of content (such as a background image and text).  Such elements will have a “Content” button next to them.  Clicking this will reveal the individual pieces of content that can be locked or unlocked individually.

When users of Content Editor try to change content that is locked they will see a screen that looks like this:
